season 5, episode 10 (top 16 perform) couples 1-4

i think @chilosa09 on twitter captured my opinion best on last night's show:

"Dear Toni Basil 1991 called and they want their hat back. But wait..2009 called ad they want you to shut the fuck up! That's all. kthxbye"

SERIOUSLY. i think nigel gets her on the show simply to fill the time that the lack of dancers leaves. HER COMMENTARY IS BORING AND WORTHLESS. any valid or good points that she may make are totally nullified by whatever idiotic comment she makes next. it's as though she's trying to make an intelligent remark regarding the dancing, but seriously. no wonder mickey didn't understand...

and...i may regret saying this, but i'd rather have lil' c judging than her.
*writhes in agony*
OH, SAY YOU'LL LET ME TAKE IT BACK! PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU.
WHYYYYYY?! WHY?!?!?!?!
*sobs into hanky*

damn adam shankman and his film directing *shakes fist at dance gods*

and also, i had to watch the first 40 minutes of this episode just now because my brother-in-law accidentally recorded The 627 Pound Woman instead of SYTYCD. I shit you not. My sister grabs the remote to begin playing it, and there's this massive woman on the screen. The rest of the night we kept nagging him with subtle digs like, "Well, it sure would be nice if we could fast-forward through commericials, BUT OH YEAH!..." I don't think he was really amused. My sister and I, however, found it hilarious. muahaha.

But ANYWHO. time for some nitty gritty discussion. chyeah.

(oh but before i get there, am i the only one who cries a little at the intro with chelsie, mark, twitch, joshua, etc.? hello? anyone out there? *echo* SOBBBB. *whimper* season 4. where art thou, season 4?)

intro:
WTF, CAT? WTF? WHO TOLD YOU IT WAS OKAY TO TELL TONI TO TALK MORE THAN IS NECESSARY? i love you, but that's a nono. HOWEVER, who else laughed at her British pronunciation of "Basil"? I KNOW I DID! SMALL DIGS MAKE ME HAPPEH. plus, when toni continues blabbing, i can see the glazed look in Cat's eyes & the fidgety movements of nigel that make it all worth it in the end. TRUE STORY! (vague shark tale reference for the win!)

karla & jonathan
kallie's rating: 5/10

while watching the routine, i was watching karla because she's in the hip-hop group Boogie Bots, and I thought she did well in the performance. She's mainly why I gave the 5/10 rating. And yknow, I didn't expect Jon to do that well, btu the worst part is that the two of them just WEREN'T IN SYNC. and that ruined anything about the dance. HOWEVER, his flailing back tuck gave me a SQUEE OF GLEE (so much better than a mary murphy scream, i tell ya). and for this dance i want to say what i think of the individual judge's reactions:

nigel:
SOMEONE'S A MISTER GRUMPY GILLS! hip hop=fear; fear=scary spiders; therefore, hip hop=scary spiders. i think that logic is just as...logical as nigel. granted, i agreed with most of what he said, but he was being a real ass. thank god for cat making light of the situation. BUT WHY DIDN'T HE SAY ANYTHING NICE TO KARLA?!

mary: i know a lot of people loathe her, but i have to say i kind of love her. she has her faults when it comes to judging (will get to later), but i think she said what nigel meant a lot more tactfully.

toni: *cringe* i'm still flabbergasted at how she can be all "street" so i looked this up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RHMYDstF3s
me: :| i don't see that she has the ghetto groove. more like the mickey move.

overall: i hope they're able to stay (at least karla anyway). i see room for improvement in karla, and i just want to see her dance some more, really... but i think they may go, which i have to say is justifiable.

asuka & vitolio:
kallie's rating: 7.5/10

okay, first of all, I AM IN LOVE WITH THEIR PARTNERSHIP. vitolio is pretty much the sweetest person ever. when he kissed her on the cheek and held her, even cynical & black-hearted kallie went "D'AWWWW!" as for the actual dance, did i like it? not particularly. did i think they danced it well? yeah. apart from some synchronization mishaps, i thought they did pretty damn well. the lift at the end made it all worth it, really. i'm just ready for these two to NAIL a piece of choreography.

nigel seemd to really like it (which shocked me. anyone else?), mary kind of spoke my mind (except i don't really think last week was amazing for them except for emotion...), and toni...just fcking annoys me, sorry. but i agree that i think they have great potential.

overall: i have really high hopes for these two, so i hope they don't get kicked off.

better late than never, right? (right?!)

HOKAY. SO.

I'm a massive fan of So You Think You Can Dance, and I've been meaning to make this blog for ages, but I honestly didn't think anyone would want to read it; HOWEVER, a few of my friends have asked my opinion on cuts, performances, etc. (GASP, I KNOW) so I thought to hell with low self-esteem. I'm making this baby!

I realize this is a late start, but pretend I've made really witty & thought-provoking comments on the past episodes. I'll likely comment on past episodes (like the travesty that is Ashley being cut. *CAT CRY*), but otherwise, I'm just too damn lazy to go back.

SO. For those of you who enjoy a rambling ranter on dance, I'm your gal.

OH, WAIT. I HAVE SOMETHING FOR Y'ALL.
(oh, the wonders of accidental screencaps)
